After 20 years of absence, Odysseus (Ralph Fiennes) appears on the shores of Ithaca, emaciated and unrecognizable. The king has returned from the Trojan War, but many things have changed in his kingdom. His beloved wife Penelope (Juliette Binoche) is imprisoned in her home, and he is being pursued by suitors who claim to be the king. His son Telemachus (Charlie Plummer) faces death at the hands of these suitors, who see him as nothing more than an obstacle in their quest for the kingdom.
